This hand-out picture taken on July 30, 2003 released by the French Navy on February 16, 2009 shows a French ballistic nuclear submarine, the same kind of the "Triomphant", one of France's four nuclear-armed submarines, that collided with a British nuclear submarine in the Atlantic, media reports said on February 16, 2009? confirming an embarrassing accident involving highly sensitive technology. Britain's HMS Vanguard and France's Le Triomphant were both damaged in the crash in the early hours of February 4, but there were no reports of damage to the nuclear parts, said the Daily Telegraph and The Sun newspapers. The French defence ministry, which had initially reported a collision between Le Triomphant and an unidentified object, also confirmed that the incident involved the British nuclear submarine while both vessels were conducting "routine patrols in the Atlantic".
